Alice Springs - Australia's Red Centre

A great day for one and all at the Alice Springs Cup Racing Carnival

Alice Springs is the heart and soul of Central Australia, made famous by the novel (later turned into a movie) “A Town Like Alice” by Nevil Shute.

The city of Alice Springs is located in the state of the Northern Territory (NT), of which Darwin is the capital.

Our iconic outback Australian town, rich in history, culture, art and unique characters has a great deal to offer both locals and visitors.

Alice Springs is well known internationally for being the gateway to Ayers Rock (Uluru). Ayers Rock is 450km away, approximately 4.5 hours drive on sealed roads. There are also many coach and camping tours available from Alice Springs.

Alice Springs has many of the facilities and services you would expect in any Australian capital city including shops, attractions, entertainment / events, and now, further increased online news, entertainment and promotional services (thanks to The Alice Online).

'The Alice' is known as Mparntwe to its original inhabitants, the Arrernte, who have lived in the Central Australian desert in and around the region for thousands of years.

The municipality of Alice Springs covers an area of 328 sq kms and has a population estimated at 28,605 (ABS 2012).

Thank you for visiting The Alice Online, and we hope you enjoy yourself, whether you are a local, or just passing though.
